OV Turns Your Voice into a Controller for Music Playback and Discovery

Your smartphone is likely become your primary device for playing your music collection and discovering new songs and artists. Streaming music services like Amazon Music Unlimited, Spotify and Pandora leverage sophisticated algorithms to recommend songs, albums and artists, and even create playlists, based on your preferences. Trouble is, if you’re listening to a new song and want to know the title or artist, you have to stop what you’re doing to pull out your phone, look at the screen and use your fingers to interact with the app. That’s a major inconvenience if you’re jogging, and downright dangerous if you’re driving. The combination of OV intelligent headphones and Amazon’s Alexa virtual assistant eliminates all of those steps, and enables you to control playback and search using just your voice.

Whether you’ve been an Amazon Music Unlimited subscriber since the streaming service was launched last year, or are a brand new user who took advantage of the Prime Day deal last week, you’ll be amazed at the wide range of voice commands you can use to play and discover music.

Of course, for basic playback controls like raising or lowering the volume or skipping to the next track, you don’t even need to ask for Alexa’s help. Simply tap the Audio Up, Audio Down or Play/Pause/Next/Mute buttons on your headset.

  • "Who is this?"

  • "What song is this?"

  • "Who is this artist?"

  • "When did this song/album come out?"

If there’s a tune stuck in your head, but you can’t remember the title, you can ask Alexa to “Play the song that goes [lyrics].” Don’t worry if you cannot carry a tune, you don’t have to actually sing.

Let’s say you’ve grown tired of your own playlists and want to find something new. Again, just tap the Alexa Button and ask Alexa to:

  • "Play [pick an emotion] music."

  • "Play new [genre]."

  • "Play [decade genre]."

Or, place your trust in Alexa and Amazon Music Unlimited and command Alexa to "Play some music" or "Play brand new music."

There are too many options to include here, and you can also use many (but not all) of these commands with your Spotify Premium, Pandora, iHeartRadio and TuneIn accounts. I encourage you to check out this page on Amazon's web site for the complete list.
