Use OV to Create a Cone of Silence That Actually Works
Given the near universal hatred people have for office cubicle farms, you might think that coworking spaces would be just as unpopular. Yet, the opposite is true. The number of coworking spaces worldwide has skyrocketed from 1,000 five years ago to more than 11,000 today, driven by the similar increase in the number of remote workers and independent contractors. Coworking spaces are great for facilitating collaboration and networking, but sometimes you need to block out the noise and focus. That’s when you turn your OV intelligent headphones into your own portable Cone of Silence that’s much more effective than one of Max Smart’s favorite gizmos.
The problem with the “Get Smart” Cone of Silence – both the portable and standard office models – is that it’s impossible to communicate with anyone. Not so with the OV intelligent headphones.
The OV’s unique Ambient and Voice features give you complete control over how you hear the world, making it perfect for working in noisy environments.
After you ask Alexa to start streaming music, podcasts, audiobooks or your daily Flash briefing, you don’t have to completely block out the noise around you. The Ambient/Chat button gives you control over what you hear and what you don’t, in any situation. A brief press turns on/off the ambient microphones in the earbuds, allowing you to mix in sounds from the world around you. After all, you may want to block out all noise while you’re working, but listen for oncoming traffic when you’re out for a walk.
When someone approaches you to ask a quick question, you don’t have to remove the OV. In fact, you don’t even need to pull the earbuds out of your ears. Double press the button to activate Chat Mode, which lowers the volume level of your music/content and raises the level of ambient and voice sounds so that you can have a clear conversation. When the conversation is over, press Chat again, and you’re back in the zone.
The Voice button enables you to hear your own voice in real time for better phone calls, voice commands, and even for singing along to your favorite tunes (although I don’t recommend doing that in a coworking space…).
